This Sway in the Morning interview with DJ Vlad of Vlad TV (“How to break into the rap game”) is something I think can benefit many up and coming music artists. He offers some some great insight for rappers and recording artists on how to build a fanbase online. This info starts at 8:38.
–How to build a fanbase from DJ Vlad–
1. Record an album’s worth of QUALITY songs
Make a catalog of dope music – and have them professionally recorded, mixed and mastered. With the quality of home studios nowadays, you may be able to do this yourself, at least the dry recordings. It doesn’t take a lot of super fancy equipment to get a quality sound, but it’s more about how the equipment is used. Specifically when it comes to recording vocals, you want to make sure everything is recorded very clean with minimal background noise and no distortion. This will give you the quality foundation you need to have a professional mix and master done.
2. Make a music VIDEO for every song
Now depending on your budget, this may or may not be achievable for you right away. However, the music videos (and any quality visuals for that matter) are going to set you far apart from every other amateur who isn’t shooting video. These visuals enable your potential fan base and supporters to really engage with the music and get to know more about you.

3. Set a schedule and release the videos
Make it like an event. For example, if you can release a new music videos weekly, let’s say on Friday, this will get your following expecting when your new music drops. Or maybe just once per month. The main idea here is to be consistent. The more frequently you release quality videos, the more opportunity you have to build your fanbase for the long haul.
Summary
If you consistently put out quality music and content, people will listen! And you
